Thumbs down Thumbs down to Bayside BMW

I bought my 2009 335i from Bayside BMW as a CPO. I live all the way near riverhead, so it was quite the hike for me. The reason I went all the way to Queens was that they had the specific model I wanted - Coupe, 6MT, Black, Sport Package, xDrive.

As everyone knows, you pay a lot extra for a CPO. This is to pay for not only the warranty but also a thorough inspection of the car and a refresh of some wear and tear items (brake pads if needed, tires, etc).

TLDR: Bayside BMW didn't properly inspect my car, didn't change the wear items that needed to be changed, and in general are incompetent assholes.

Highlights:

1) Roughly 8,000 miles after taking delivery, I needed to replace my front brake pads. All daily driving. No track days, nothing stupid. Obviously the front brake pads weren't new when I picked up the car. Whatever, not the end of the world but its annoying.

2) Roughly 10,000 miles after taking delivery, my low tire pressure light comes on. My front left tire was so out of alignment that the inside edge wore down and the tread delaminated from the tire. Again, all normal daily driving. Maybe the car comes out of alignment a little bit over 10,000 miles, but not bad enough that I would wear down a tire to the cords. So arguably the car was completely out of alignment when I picked it up. Regardless, I check the rest of the tires and they are all worn down far enough that I need to replace all four. Obviously I didn't get new tires when I picked up the car.

3) The car that has had work done to the body following an accident but wasn't on the carfax. The owner before me must have had the car fixed outside of insurance so there was no report on the carfax. I found this out when I took the car to my friend to fix a dent in my bumper. He shows me the door gaps, takes out his paint depth meter and shows me how the door was bondo'd, how the door gaps are off, and how it definitely had work done to it. The kicker on this is that when I brought my trade to Bayside BMW they treated me like a fucking criminal. They claimed I was hiding accidents from them, hiding body work from them, hiding bondo from them, etc. They busted out their paint depth meter to check my car, did a full inspection in their shop, and wouldn't accept my answers about the car as true. They put more effort into checking into my car than they did into checking into the BMW they were selling me. If they had spent the time checking the CPO car, they would have noticed the door and not CPO'ed it... or maybe they did notice and didn't care. Either way, you should have confidence that a CPO BMW is the car they claim it is.

I called BMW USA to complain and I will be talking to my local Service Advisor tomorrow. Hopefully I don't have to pay for this busted tire. The worst part is god knows what else they overlooked on the car. I bought a CPO BMW, I shouldn't have to get an independent inspection before buying the fucking car.

Big thumbs down. Will never do business with them ever again.

I took a test drive there a few years ago before they had their CPO lot... the salesperson who took me out opened the door into the next car and just simply said "it'll buff out." That was enough to scare me away.

Btw, when did you buy your car? Although they should have made sure things like alignment are in good order, they wouldn't replace your wear/tear items unless you're in factory warranty (unless they clearly needed to). Also, assuming you bought the car around the time you joined the forums, probably want to think about replacing your battery very soon.

You are correct, however many of us have learned the hard way that a CPO inspection can be very minimal (depending on the dealer).

When I bought my car, the oil light came on the next day...

Hope everything works out for you.

i bought my car from there as well those people are a bunch of clowns the rear passenger side door panel was loose had to drive back 3 days later which is about 1 hour from my house just so they can fix it and supposedly they changed my oil free of charge when i purchased it ... smh CPO yeah my ass lmfao the oil light went on 5 months later and there was only 3k miles since i bought it from when the light went on so these people are very incompetent.

thumbs down for sure!
