Quick word about Alloy Wheel Specialists

Had a pretty rough experience the other week. Not sure if anyone here has dealt with Alloy Wheel Specialists(a mobile owner operated company based out of central MA) that deals with bent and curb-rashed rims.

So...this all started with two bent right side VMR rims that I damaged last summer hitting one of MA's notorious potholes. I decided to wait until this spring to get them fixed, since I did not drive them on the car during the winter. I called Alloy Wheel Specialists hoping for some help in fixing my bent rims. The owner Stephen answered the phone, and we tried setting up an appointment. First time we had an appointment set up for a Tuesday at 3:00pm. I sat at my house waiting until 4:30, and still no arrival or even a quick call saying sorry he couldn't make it. Alright...it grinded my gears a little but at least I had no plans for the afternoon! I gave him a call and he apologized saying he got caught up in his previous customer's job. No big deal.

We continued to set up another appointment for Friday of the same week. Same time, 3:00pm. I told him I would need to be at work by 5:00pm, and he replied saying no problem, and that he would be completely done with my two rims by 3:30 at the latest. Once again, I waited...and I waited...no wheel repair guy at my door. 4:00pm comes around, and I give him a call.(Side note- every time I called him and gave him the same name I had given him in each of our phone conversations, he never remembered who i was...?) "hey sorry man, i've been really busy today and I totally forgot about our appointment!". Alright..

He continues to say "ok, well give me a call next Tuesday so we can try to set up an appointment next Wednesday". Yeah buddy, my a$$. No way IM going to call YOU to set up ANOTHER appointment after YOU blew me off twice. Sorry, but ill find someone else with better customer service and reliability(keep in mind its $110/rim to fix the bends).

Of course I get a call Tuesday from the guy, after forgetting my name once again, asking why I did not call to schedule another appointment. haha.

Overall a rough experience. So- anyone know where I could go to get good service and a good-quality fix to my bent rims?

I'd almost suggest to buy a pair from VMR at that price. They aren't the greatest strength/quality, and you could probably turn the bent ones into a spares or a table. Sucks that you had that experience though.

I recently had a bent wheel fixed at rim pro in Tewksbury . Great experience. They are open late on Thursdays so I stopped by after work and they fixed it in 30 min while I waited.

+1 on Rim Pro, Fast and easy, they fixed 2 VMR's on my 135i when I had it, took less than an hour and they told me up front that not all rims can be repaired. Which is always nice when people are up front and don't claim to be miracle workers.

does rim pro refinish as well? If so, can anyone suggest them for refinish?

Yes, went in yesterday to get a quote+drop off the rims. They can refinish, depending on the color of your rims. For mine, unfortunately, they cannot match the color. Going back to what dosturbos said, they are very upfront about their service and I have had a pleasant experience so far. Going today to pick them back up!

On a side note, has anyone dealt with the company thats right next door to rimpro? I was approached by a man who worked at that shop, saying they deal only with bmw and aftermarket stuff? sorta caught my eye...

This is why I'm never buying VMR wheels again. Despite pleading with them, they refused to offer anything more than those little touch up sticks for a fee. They wouldn't send me a bit of paint in a rattle can or a little bit for use with a sprayer, and they refuse to disclose their color code so the paint can be professionally matched.

Their official suggestion for dealing with curb rash on one wheel was to have a shop use a similar color and respray all four wheels to match. Seriously?

Agreed here x10. im almost about to throw them on craigslist and save up for some quality rims and none of this bs. From what ive heard, Avant Garde is reliable...even though sometimes cheap.

Ace Performance is next door to Rimpro I believe. I've been at the shop twice, just to get tires mounted and balanced. I have another appointment there to get a hitch fitted in a couple weeks.

They are very stand up guys, great costumer service. Last time I was there about a month ago I saw a full race-head S54 getting swapped into an E36. I've also seen just a regular car getting a brake job done.

They seem to do a variety of work and are involved in bmw cca events.
