New guy wheel fitment question

Hi guys

Sorry to do this as a first post, dont want to be marred as being 'one of those lot' but i do have a wheel size and fitment question.

I bought my car with ACS Type IV racing 20" wheels, which i really like the look of, but i get panicked everytime i see something that even nearly resembles a pothole so im down sizing to 19" so i can up the tyre profile.

My first question though is, whats the deal with running 35 profile tyres up front and 30 in the rear on 19" wheels? Normally id like to match front and rear but as im doing it for practicality i was intending on going from XXX/30/20 to XXX/35/19. Is there a major problem with rubbing on profile 35 on 19s on the rear?

I was hoping to get the Ispiri ISR10 wheels (http://www.bmautosport.co.uk/showroo...0SGM%20(7).JPG) in gunmetal. They come in:

19 x 8.5 et 35
19 x 9.5 et 33
19 x 10 et32

The 10js seem like a no brainer for the rear, but i was wondering if anyone had any experience with fitting 9.5j et33 up front (rather than the recommended 8.5j's), theyd have roughly 15mm more "dish" which id have thought would be ok clearance wise.

Anyway, sort of thinking out loud but would appreciate any input. For reference if youve not seen my welcome post heres my car:

Cheers

Maccy

19 x 9.5 et 33 will fit witout any problems . I'm running 19x9.5 235/35 et35 with 12mm spacers .If you on coilovers it's most likely you will need spacers to clear them ,if you on standard shock and lowering spring you will be fine without them .

Different profile (correct name is aspect ratio) for front and rear is normal and to be expected when using different width tyres front and rear on the same diameter rim.

With staggered tyre widths you should NOT match the AR. If you fit the same AR front to rear then you would have different rolling diameters which would be odd.

For example:

255/30/19 has a different aspect ratio to a 225/35/19, but they have the same actual "profile". so they have the same rolling diameter (well 2mm between them) and are therefore a matched pair of sizes.

On the subject of new wheels/tyres does anyone know if OEM 19" CSL alloys will fit my 2011 e90 330d M. They have the following specifications:

Front 8.5" 235/35/19 ET 44
Rear 9.5" 265/30/19 ET 27

Or will they require modification and or spacers?

Cheers doughboy and M4rius, i will probably want the same profile if iv got 9.5 front and 10 rear then. I always thought it was related to tyre diameter, but its a proportion of width isnt it. Thanks for explaining.

M4rius, just to check (sorry), you dont have M3 front wings or anything do you? Will i need an arch roll to get 9.5 et33 up front? Or did yours drop straight on?

9.5 et33 is an easy fit up front in terms of arch clearance, but you need to find out if it will clear the coilover adjuster collar if you have coilovers. Do you?

No its just springs at the moment so i should be ok.

Can you tell me if the car has adjustable camber as standard or is it fixed? Sounds like a silly question, coming from jap cars they all have oval holes on the upright but a friend suggested that not all cars have that.

Maccy D,

You do know that the ET number is the inwards offset?

So a Et33 is further tucked in than a Et22. I think Et22 will rub the arch at those widths.

You were worried about M4rius ET33 rubbing, but 22 will be way worse

Hi Dough

M4rius said he runs 19 x 9.5 et 35 up front with 12mm spacer making an effective size of 19 x 9.5 et 23 so i thought id be ok to run et22 as 1mm can be taken car of with tyre stretch or a bit of camber if required.
