Diesel Smell in cabon

Hi All!
I just took ownership of a 2011 335d CPO w 27K miles. The first week I have had it the car has had a diesel smell in the cabin. I took it to the dealer and they stated that this is normal. I didn't like the answer since the smell makes my eyes burn.
I came home and looked around the engine and found oil leaking by the turbo. I took it back to the dealer and they replaced an oil hose that they said was leaking. Well a few days later it is smelling again!
It was 95% gone when they fixed it.
Any other ideas? If there any other items that would create that smell on the Passenger side of the engine? Please help! I love the car, but the smell is unbearable!
Thank you!
Ron

definitely it is not normal, it is like having gasoline engine and you would have a smell of the gasoline inside. go back and insist that they do detail look around the engine bay. You have already proven to them that during the first visit they haven't even look. If they insist that it is normal then ask them to take another diesel out and take it for a drive with the person that says it is normal and then ask him where is that diesel smell in that new car. I wish I can give you more solutions but I am also a new owner of the diesel and learning about this car as well.

I am not sure where it is coming from. I dont think it is coming from the ventilation system. The dealer did say they did not smell the diesel. I did and it seems that it creeps in after long stop and go driving. I will check it out later and see where it is coming from.
Thanks!

EGR cooler getting cracked is a known issue, which can contribute to the smell inside the cabin. There is another known point of failure, the seal in between DPF and turbo.

Tell them you don't want to pass out while driving...that will get their attention and they will make the effort to duplicate the scenario.

I looked over the engine and found more oil by the large turbo and all the ducts around it. It's back to the dealer tomorrow.

The dealer stated that this was residual oil from the repair they made last week that they didn't clean. I will keep monitoring this. The smell is driving me crazy.

Well an oil leak wouldnt produce a diesel smell, at worst if oil leaks on the exhaust it was produce a burning oil smell. When you say "diesel smell" you mean it smells like pure diesel, like the diesel pump handle at a gas station?

If that is the case, it must be coming from the fuel supply side, maybe around the HPFP.

It must have been the Oil smell. Diesel Engine oil smell different than Gasoline engine oil. The oil seems to have been leaking all over the engine. When the engine was hot the scent of the hot oil would permeate into the cabin (no smoke though).
Only time will tell if it is fixed.
Thanks again everyone!
