My letter to dealers, comments wanted
Here's what I plan to start emailing to all the local dealers early next week. Let me know what you think....
--- Dear XYZ I'm looking to buy an '06 330i this week. Over the next three days, I'll be taking bids. I understand that I will probably need to order a car, as the features I want generally aren't carried in inventory. I would rather order to get exactly what I want than buy from current stock and get it sooner. Here is what I am looking for: 06' BMW 330i 6MT Sparkling Graphite Sport Package Premium Package, black leather, poplar Cold Weather Package Comfort Access Navigation/iDrive Satellite Prep I am looking at a sale price of $42,070 (Invoice price of $40,625, plus $750 dealer profit, plus $695 destination charge) plus tags, taxes, and title. In addition, I am also looking to do a 36mo/10k lease with the following numbers: money factor: .00195 residual: 65% ($29,344.25 based on MSPR of $45,145) acquisition fee: $625 cap cost reduction: $0 down Please consider my offer and respond as soon as you can, thank you! That looks great, but where did you get the lease figures from? I believe the January rates on a 36mo/10k lease are 64% residual with a base money factor of .00225
I'd love to know if .00195 and 65% are accurate because I'll be taking delivery of my car next week and that will considerably lower my payment. EDIT: Nevermind - I just saw the rates are different for a 330i vs 330xi. My bad.

Personally, I went into the dealer and talked with the CA that had been helping me with test drives and finding cars to try out options. I let him know I wanted to deal from invoice and he let me know what kind of offers they had done in the past. I told him what price I was looking for and he countered with a compromise that was acceptable to me so he ordered the car. Just make sure, either way, that you've done all your research so you know what a reasonable offer is for your area and go from there. Hope this helps.

Are you sure about that? the chart says 62% for 15k, add 3% for 10k.

Oh I was told the #s weren't going to change for Feb. That really sucks. Do you have a url for that, I haven't seen any updates on the web where the new rates are posted.
That's a $40 increase in the monthly. Grrrrrr. -Mike |
