5" or 6" pads / backing plates

Which size pads does everyone recommend. I see a lot of 5" and 6". Obviously the smaller would work better in smaller/tighter areas? Would it cause more work on the larger areas? Don't want to buy both.

you really should have a couple diffrent backing plates for the tight areas on the bumpers and pillards. If you really dont want to have all that just buy the 6inch then. You dont want to polish your car using a little pad like 3-5inch range you'll be there awhile.

5.5 inch pads with a 5 inch backing plate if you are using a non-forced rotation D/A.

Like what was said above, you can use a 5.5" pad for most applications. Some areas like the pillars or next to the mirror may need smaller pads. If you aren't worried about that then a 5.5" pad will be good to polish/wax the entire car.
