Is 0C,9F a safe voltage for stock AE bulbs in a E90 LCI Halogen headlight ??

I've coded 0C,2C as the voltage and do not see any increase in brightness for the Angel eyes.
Should I chance the higher voltage ??

Update: tried it (couldn't resist ) - it makes no difference

The default wert option (only 1 selected under both PWM_SL_1_FKT_SL_TFL & PWM_SL_1_FKT_BL_TFL) for me had the values as 10,00 - which leads me to think that since it was set at 0, changing the value will not do anything for me. The option description says !XENONLICHT

Should I select a wert with a non-zero initial value and then try changing it via nettodat ??

Wont notice much difference. With Led rings there is a significant difference. Going any higher I have seen someone post that it burnt out the lights...

THe most I would go is 0C,E2 which is 14.3 actual Volts

The bulbs are designed to work with a 12v power source, so you can safely go up to 12v. Most bulbs also have a decent amount of tolerance that will allow them to handle a couple extra volts too. Personally I wouldn't go any higher than 14v.

Keep in mind that higher voltage means decreased lifespan, however. The reason the DRLs are undervolted from the factory is to increase the lifespan of the bulbs so they don't have to be swapped out as often, which saves BMW money in their free maintenance program.

I'm guessing he means the actual LED rings that you take apart the headlights to install and then wire directly into the power source. They're generally meant to take 12V, so upping the voltage from the undervolted 10V or whatever would make a big difference.

As for aftermarket LED bulbs, I wouldn't mess with the voltage in that case. They're most likely using constant voltage DC > DC transformers as the drivers. Depending on what the drivers are rated for in terms of acceptable input voltage, you risk blowing the driver. And if it's a constant output driver, you'd be gaining nothing anyway, as the output voltage would stay the same. All the extra energy would just be converted to heat.

Yes you are correct...I was referring to the aftermarket LED replacement rings for the Angel rings...Here are mine coded to 0C,9F. The picture was taken in the middle of the afternoon..IMO as long as they are LED bulbs or rings increasing the voltage is fine but on the OEM bulbs I would advise against it..

Not the case - it depends on what the driver for the LEDs (whether H8 or rings) is rated for as acceptable voltage, and how the driver handles its voltage range. If it's constant output and you're already getting appropriate output, you'll just be producing more heat and wasting power by upping the voltage.

As for the filament bulbs, as mentioned, they're rated for 12V.
