Reinstalling stock airbox - 335i

I decided to put my stock airbox back in today, and all was going good until the very end when I had to connect the rear air intake pipe to the box.

This thing is going to be the DEATH of me!! I can't get the pipe around the box opening!!! GRRR

Has anybody done this who can make suggestions???

Thanks,

What Not To Do!!!!

OH CRAP!!

So apparently this is the DEATH of me!!

Illustrated below is an example of what NOT TO DO when pushing the air intakes back into the original box.

So now the cars going into the shop to get a new air duct installed.

With duct tape covering that hole, is the diverter hose okay to hang into the engine bay while driving to the mechanic?

I'm having the same problem right now, but I didn't put enough force to tear out the air duct. Thanks for the heads up!
