Sourcing K & N DCI....

Has anyone ever bought them straight from K & N? I'm assuming it's cheaper than $95-100 plus shipping from the vendors?

TIA

K&N Dci?

K&N only makes oil filter and drop in air filter for this vehicle.

K&N doesn't make an intake for the N54.

Do you mean purchasing the filters from them? And making your own tubes to go into the actual intakes?

Two K&N filters would cost about as much as the DCI kit from BMS. Unless you get them online somewhere maybe saving $40

What Jeff said... You can make your own DCI using parts from an autoparts and hardware store. The BMS dci uses an Amsoil filter anyways (I believe)

Oh I get it...

The BMS DCI is not K&N filters. They are S&B filters.

You could make the intake yourself if you source and make your own pipe. Then you just need 2 worm clamps and 2 filters. All said and done you might save a little money.

As it is the BMS DCI is sold by us vendors for literally a few % in profit.

THIS I did not know! Amsoil is a good name, I wasn't sure if they were just good oil/cotton/fiber filters.

EDIT: I now see Jeff stating they're S&B, another good name just for the record

I'm sending mine off for testing, just to confirm

Thanks for clarifying on it though Jeff, like I said, I thought they were just cheap cotton/oil filters

Shit, sorry for the confusion guys. Should have been more clear.

I have DCI on my car right now, but they're old and I want to replace JUST the double cone filter. I don't need the pipping as I already have them. I know K & N doesn't make those 'DCI' for this car, but I'm sure they have (or should) something similar if not the same, right?

K & N or S&B doesn't matter, actually I think I got mine from BMS, so it's most likely a S&B as mentioned. But I just need the filter.....

This would not be the first thread created asking about making your own DCI or where they are from.

The part numbers and exact sizing of the S&B filters in question are available through the search feature.

Thanks for clearing that up, Jeff! I just knew they were not K&N

And OP, why not just use a K&N recharge kit? You can get it for like $15 or less. Doesn't matter if you are using "K&N oil" on a non K&N filter, it all serves the same purpose

Dude, I have been, I'm still using the DCI I bought 5+ years ago, went through 3-4 K & N recharge kits.....

At this point, I just need to replace them because they look like shit....the mesh is kinda banged up and ugly. I know it's just a DCI, and it's under the hood, and yada yada yada, but it's about time.....

@ Jeff (TGS), I tried searching with just keywords, but all I got back was a bunch of forum and vendor threads about the DCI....Just didn't think it was THIS mysterious.....

Go to the Amsoil site and find one with the same dimensions. Or get some CP-E replacements, etc.

Have you looked into getting a sealed setup? Or a non oiled setup? Sealed setups are supposed to be better in every aspect from what I've read (BuraQ with the AFE sealed kit, and actual testing to back it). Plus, the sealed setup will not get dirty any where near as fast. Or you could do the AFE DCI and get non oiled filters and just throw a filter sock on there. Even can still do oiled filters with a sock, couple different options.

Donations welcome

Part Number: R0633

Just an FYI BMS sells replacements for ~$75 if you don't want to buy a whole new kit.

Thanks Jeff, but that link that links directly to the SB filter is no longer available.....But I think there should be enough info in that thread to find the right filter, maybe?

BMS replacement kit, that's filters only, I assume?

TIA

I'm amazed at the number of people on this site that either refuse or are too incompetent to do their own homework...especially after OP's reply

Hey, sometimes it's just quicker/easier to ask, because who knows, someone on here might have that info faster than I can search....

That's just me, I ask questions, easy ones, hard ones, who cares. If you don't have an answer, you surely don't need to reply.

And for those who has actually helped me answer my question, thanks a bunch!!

It's all good. Most questions and answers are gone over dozens and dozens of times on forums. Enjoy your new filters.
