Alcohol fuels have a high AKI of almost 100. So you can tune a lot more aggressively without getting knock. Exhaust gas temperatures tend to be lower which improves efficiency on turbo motors. However it takes almost twice as much methanol and about 2/3 the ethanol to make the same power as gasoline . You want to balance the AK properties with the energy concentration in gasoline. That appears to be E50-60 on this platform at the moment. Once we have unlimited fuelling a 100% alcohol motor would be possible.
