MotoGP: RedBull Grand Prix of the Americas (04/11-13/14)
#showusyourlean
It is already time for stop #2 on the 2014 MotoGP circuit: The Red Bull Grand Prix of the Americas in Austin, Texas! MotoGP returns to the newly-built facility in Austin, Texas after racing there for the first time in 2013. It famously saw Marc Márquez's first MotoGP class win, as the rookie began a memorable debut season, and its 41-metre elevation change makes for some spectacular racing Introduction: The Circuit Of The Americas is the first purpose-built Grand Prix facility in the U.S. near Austin, Texas, with a 5.513km track and a capacity for 120,000 fans. Construction of the impressive 1000-acre facility was completed late in 2012, with MotoGP lining up at the track for the first time in 2013. One of its more distinctive features is near 41m-elevation change with an impressive incline at the end of the home-straight followed by a sharp left. The circuit is one of the most varied on the GP circuit, with a mix of fast straights and tight hairpins, with most sections mirroring at least some part of a famous track around the world. It was designed by well-known German architect and circuit designer Hermann Tilke. The driving direction is counter clockwise and has a total of 20 corners with 9 right turns and 11 left turns. Lets look at turn 1 and how steep it is: Number of laps - 21 Number of turns - 20 Circuit Length (Km) - 5.513 Race Distance (Km) - 115.77 Width: 15m Left corners: 11 Right corners: 9 Longest straight: 1.200 m / 0.746 miles Constructed: 2012 Points so far: 1. M. Marquez 25 2. V. Rossi 20 3. D. Pedrosa 16 4. A. Espargaró 13 5. A. Dovizioso 11 6. C. Crutchlow 10 7. S. Redding 9 8. N. Hayden 8 9. C. Edwards 7 10. A. Iannone 6 What was that? What channel? Find out your local listings here: http://msn.foxsports.com/tv-listings Here is one of Tilke's renderings:

I'm sure... He is on fire! Even with all the crashes and his injury no one can catch him....except maybe Rossi

I hope Rossi at least can fight for it. As a Rossi fan since the mid 90s it was very nice to see the first race of the season. Lets hope he can keep that up, he doesn't have to win or be on the podium week after week - just be competitive.

Rossi will keep pace. I've been a Rossi fan for about as long as you. I will admit there was a time when he wasn't my favorite rider after I met Biaggi in the late '90s/early '00s. There were some epic Biaggi/Rossi battles back then. I hope Rossi pulls from that time-period to fight MM.

I went last year, and am super sad I couldn't make it again this weekend. Had the flight and the ticket ready to go only to be thwarted by work at the last minute.
That said, turn 19 is the place to be. Plop a chair on the ground halfway down the hill and enjoy the overtaking |

I heard a storm is in the forecast. Stay dry fellas. I was at COLA last year and if you guys can get into the Velocity Lounge, do it!!! It's nice inside that lounge.
I know it's a Honda track, but I also hope Rossi can compete with Marc. |

He's had a great and long career. I shared the track with him when we were both amateurs racing in TX. Except he would start in the second wave as a yellow shirt rookie, pass the entire field and cross the line on the rear wheel. You knew he was something special. Believe he has a racing and dirt track school started up.

What happened to Yamaha? Between Lorenzo's jump-start with the lights still red and his drive-through penalty and then Rossi's front tire issues, Yamaha needs to tighten up their house. They would've been 3rd and 4th if it wasnt for those two major problems.
I think rossi needs to run a harder tire. He is adapting his riding style better perhaps that affected his front tire being chewed up in what? less than 10 laps? It's fun watching Marquez dominate. I see him like a Sebastian Vettel but much more appreciative of what he is doing and much more a team player that how Vettel used to me. He almost dumped his bike on the LAST turn and that was probably one of the most exciting parts of the race LOL |
