The pre-LCI's had that hard plastic shield in front of the navigation screen.
That said, it produced horrible amounts of glare, and in some light conditions, was barely readable. IMO, the LCIs are light-years ahead of the pre-LCI navigation screens when it comes to visibility, but of course they are rather sensitive and God forbid you accidentally drop something on them, or scratch them. I already have some minor hairline scratches, and a couple of little dots that don't seem to be able to be cleaned. I'm just looking for ideas and suggestions, or is everyone just simply super careful not to touch or tap the screen? I saw a company called Lexerd that makes screen protectors for our iDrive LCI screens, but I just wasn't sure if it was a great idea to put something on these screens, and whether or not I should get the antiglare or the Crystal film. |

I was gonna say to use material such as the LCD anti glare screen protectors I use on my digital camera - but I see you already got the idea
The anti glare screen protector would be your best bet if they make them custom size for the screen - they can be removed with no damage to screen and the anti glare really works ![]()

Yup- Google is my friend..AND an old Bimmerpost post by a poster with TomTom in his name
![]() The only outstanding concerns are how an anti glare film would affect the visibility of an anti glare screen, and how well I can put the screen on and how easily I can remove it. Hope you are well bud! |

Dark Knight check out this thread.
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=666066 It talks about removing that anti-glare with Novus and then you can put a screen protector over it for added protection. |

I get what you're saying sounds interesting but personally I don't find the need to protect that screen, how do you drop something on the lcd anyway

UPDATE... The little area I thought was damaged? I actually rubbed it lightly with my fingertip, and then rubbed it lightly with a chamois cloth, and it came right off! I must've sneezed or some shit LOL

Here's an example bro- of course it depends on the year of your car but I think they're all pretty much 8.8 inches.
On a side note, a cheaper price may be found on Amazon... I've seen crystal clear and antiglare on Amazon. http://lexerd.com/shop/category_19/B...aram=cid%3D%26" rel="" target="_blank">http://<a href="http://lexerd.com/sh...=cid%3D%26</a> |

Not sure bud, but I THINK they're both 8.8 inch. Let's try this one:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B004MW...8039524&sr=8-8 Honestly they're a bit general about their products- I would contact them directly. |

http://www.amazon.com/Tech-Armor-Ant...reen+protector Anti Glare screen protector sized for iPad. Cut it to size and stick it on. Think it would work? |

It's possible, I'm just afraid to stick anything on it suddenly
![]() With my luck I'll gouge my screen and that'll be the end of that LOL |
