I was actually surprised that mpg is around the same, if not marginally better than the 335i.

My current work journey - 335i 20 mpg - M3 22 mpg - although I am probably taking it more easy at the moment.

Feisty runs: 335i 16 mpg, M3 12 mpg

So I'm not really noticing much difference.

I think I will on a long motorway run - 335i 29 mpg, M3 don't know yet.

LOL YOU ARE DREAMING MATE...

M3 is no way at all more economical than a 335i.

I had one for a weekend and did the same amount of driving as i would in my 335i... Drank twice the fuel.

But seriously... if you are considering lowering... You cannot just lower on springs. Regular lower spec cars can be lowered on springs because it doesn't matter. But if you want to retain comfort and improve driveability... you NEED to opt for full coilover setup! Do it properly or not at all when it comes to an M3! You do not half ass your suspension....This is why an M is an M

Yeah, I suppose I'm probably only taking it easy at the moment, so not driving the 2 cars the same.

Thanks for the input regarding the drop, I will do some proper research. I'm reluctant to mess about with the setup.

Cheers.

I did the same Boz over a year ago albeit from a 330d, awesome car, but motorway you will not get more than 26-28, less if you go over 70, idrive lies as well. from memory 230 miles off a tank is 18mpg, 300 is 27/28 mpg something like that.

but who cares its awesome

Congrats on the purchase, looks lovely DCT blips are epic! I truely can't understand why anybody would want a manual one...
I recently purchased mine, and im still loving every minute of it! I stuck performance grills ont the front, side repeater surrounds will be going black and also keen to get an exhaust!

I love my 335i but having driven a few M3's gotta say it feels just a tad morethere's just something about the whole package that makes it that little bit special, the 335 as a car grist you can modify it as I'm discovering but it's not quite the car the M3 is. One day I'll own one

you need to get the GTS DCT software update and live in the S5/6 area, they changes are brutal but make you understand what an M3 is all about. its difficult to explain why M3s "feel" better than the non Ms but when you have made the transition it all makes sense. I still loved my 330d and it was a great car, but even just sitting in the cabin of the M3 knowing what it is is special..... over and out...

LOL i sat on a e92 m3 coupe , it really doesn't take much to make you feel special, some fancy light up cluster, m gear knob and m3 seats......

I think the cabin is most dissapointing being an M3..nothing special...can be said the same for c63 amg tho.

However the new M3/M4 cabin is Special place to be!!( only seen the pictures tho )

Yep, cabin is very nice in the C63. If I bought a car on the cabin alone I would have had one.
Looking out of the M3 and seeing the hump in the bonnet puts a smile on your face.

re-reading his comments, I don't think stevens was saying the cabin is special, I think he was saying that sitting in it knowing you were in an M was special.

Handling was top of my list.

I have been listening to a few clips. BMW PE is silly money though, over 3K.
You don't have one laying around in your garage do you?

I might as well stump up the extra for the Akrapovich. If one comes up second hand, I'll snatch their arm off.

M3 will do 27 mpg at 80 if you're careful and think ahead

Best you'll get is 29mpg out of an m3 with a very light right foot on a motorway run, around town you'll get approx 19mpg.

My 335i did UP TO 450 miles on a tank.

My M3 did UP TO 305 miles.

Best I ever saw on the M3s drive was 27 mpg on a light combined journey.(Not just motorway/A road)

I always thought the M was good on fuel if required but that accelerator was like a full bore tap for the fuel if you pleased it too hard for more than a 12 seconds you could actually see the gauge move. Loved every minuit.

I still think the 335i is a masterpiece of fast road vs practicality tho.
