2008 e92 scan tool ?? Ideas

All,

Now that my car is out of warranty, I plan to do all the work on it myself.

Looking for opinions on a tool that will at a minimum read all errors the car might be throwing, and also reset them all.

Over and above that, and I would consider a bonus, be able to reprogram the car also.

Looking for any and all thoughts and suggestions. Looking to spend as little as possible (aren't we all)

Best place to buy ?

V

I wouldn't even ask, but once I started reading it got absolutely mind boggling reading everyone's opinions, thoughts, etc .... Hoping there is a new, simpler answer these days.

Sounds like you want a coding cable.

This thread may or may not help...

I have heard lots of reviews on this one but you're paying a little more for something that works. http://www.one-stop-electronics.com/...&product_id=16

A cheap eBay cable (~$20) + INPA, DIS, NCExpert.
Will take some time to get the software up and running, but worth it.

Just make sure the cable will support your car (I believe they changed it sometime in 2007). I think it's K+D-CAN, but not sure.

Don't want to threadjack but I assume it might be of interest to the OP anyway as getting the cable is the easy part. I recently bought a cable and I'm so confused as to what software to get and where to obtain it. Most informational posts lead to download dead ends. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Look into the BMW Coding section of this forum. Everything is there.

Read the "DIY Standard Tools 2.12" thread. That's all you need.

Any recommendations/Links to guaranteed working cables ? I'd like to order one but want to ensure I only do this once !
