That sounds and looks really nice. I'm not ready to get rid of the door compartments though. I did that with the Jehnert system in my Z4.

I finished installing the Kicker SSMB8 speakers. I had to custom make a spacer for the OEM box for them to fit. The magnet was hitting the inside bottom where it starts rising due to the floor shape. It needed a half inch raise. I used 3/4" MDF and recessed 1/4" for the speaker to set in. That would be the tallest speaker (2-5/16") or (2-13/16" including the spacer) you could place in there without the seat rails hitting them. It doesn't sound tall when you compare it to the OEM or Earthquake, but the magnet is much wider and doesn't allow it to fit inside as low as other 8" speakers. I still might add shims under the seat rails. I set these to hi-pass above 80Hz. and they sound great. I'm hoping to get the sub box built within the next couple weeks. Things are looking up again.
