JB4 Firmware Update Question

Sort of a n00b question, but does the JB4 need to be connected to the car in order for me to use the USB to update the firmware? I took mine out awhile ago, and was thinking of updating the firmware before I sold it, but dont want to go through the hassle of reinstalling it to do so.

I would bet not. I doubt they installed every single one that was made into a car to program it.

I maybe wrong but doesn't the jb4 have to connect to the power so you can't update with it taken out unless there is a way to feed power to it?

Yes it does car ignition needs to be on but not running.
