Take it this means a service is needed as ive done 12k now since owning the car. What sort of price should i be looking at when they quote me so im not getting mugged off? And what does this veichle check include?
My cars an 08 320d
I did do an oil and filter change last year but i know they should be done more on a diesel than bmw say

So they charge you for looking at it?
I know it needs a service anyway

Indeed but these checks are bloody annoying when they come up at the same time as the MOT test as a lot if the vehicle check requirements crisis cross the MOT test, but the specific BMW elements on the chicle check give you an insight into various issues, from poor battery performance to possible fault codes within control units(this bring the specific BMW element) however as I've discovered some places do the check in a different way. When we do a vehicle check we

Test drive the car
Get the car on the diagnostic bay and run a diagnostic quick test(to highlight any faults or software updates
Then transfer the car to the appointed technicians ramp where the required checks and observations are carried out and are written by the technician, tyre pressures are checked regardless and we always by hand check and torque the wheels by hand to the correct specification.
The report from the technician is then bought in to me so that I can convey the information over to the customer re the health off their car.

All this should take around 50 or so minutes.

However as I've discovered not all placed are as thorough re their vehicle checks as listed above but in our opinion this is how it should be done

Vehicle checks oil servicing brakes are all things that can be tackled with ease on a Saturday morning with ease it's the bigger stuff that causes me a bit of concern on,y due it the fact that I want to get the lads out on time so they they can have some quality time to do all things non car.....plus if there's an issue there's the problem of obtaining parts short notice hence why I'm nervous doing these jobs on a Saturday as you've got certain things that can go against you.
