AKRYM Replica M-Tech Lip Problem

I'm making this thread to see if anyone has had this problem, so please don't say "don't buy replica parts"..

So I had the AKRYM rep carbon lip for the m-tech bumper, and I was cruising around 80mph, and heard a noise that didn't sound normal. I got out to look at the front of my car from where the noise was coming from, and got to see half of my lip underneath the car. I took the photo after ripping it out so I could keep moving on with my day. It appears that the lip separated at the seam where they joined the pan to the actual lip(you can see on the curve that forms to the bumper on the piece laying down), and then it slowly got sucked underneath the car.

Has anyone had similar problems? I don't feel a lip should do this at 80mph, when I didn't hit anything at all...

Also, all of the mounting points where still in tact, and the pan just ripped out around them. The 3m tape was still secured to the car where it was mounted on the edge butting up to the bumper itself.

"Should be bought Oem" haha nah jokes. Maybe you tightened the bolts too hard? As CF cracks very easily. Also the lip looks like it's copped a bit of a batterring?

The pan is fiberglass and the only spot the bolts go to is the pan. The lip was in perfect shape prior to this, all the damage is from being drug under the car and you're also seeing the 3m ventureshield on there too.

I'm just beside myself as to how this can happen with so many people running this lip.

Wow well I'm just a clueless as well. Very sad to hear have you at least contacted the supplier? I'm sure they will value your experience and input

How long have you had it? Perhaps you got a faulty one? Or perhaps it was over tightened, causing the lip to crack until the 80 mph downforce finally forced it to fully break?

I have no idea, I'm just speculating since I've never seen that before.

It was on the car since the end of December. I'm going to contact the supplier and see what they have to say. It came from a major supplier for BMW parts so they may have some more info for me.
