Ok so I had the shop readjust the downpipes to ensure the proper clearance based on Tiago's recommendations. And I got a chance to see it myself and feel they did a good job.

As far as the rattling goes, I'm 90% sure it's the wastegate. For reference, I have an '07 N54 with 38k miles. The rattling disappears after a minute from start up and can still be heard at low rpm/deceleration.

Since it's become much more audible and i'm of course out of warranty. Roughly how much would it cost to fix/replace the wastegate? I have BMW master tech who plans to inspect it next week. I just wanna know what to expect. Thanks!

Yeah, I took it back and described the issue after the dp install and they readjusted it fairly easily. No more hard steering after that.

This was a long time ago so others may be able to confirm. If I remember correctly it had to with the steering rack being too close to something. Wheel was hard to turn and was making a creaking sound.

I noticed the issue immediately after the dp install. They said it was the steering rack, and took them about 15 min to adjust. Wish I could be more helpful. Good luck!

It was the wastegate. Had the turbos replaced under the extended warranty.

Had the flapper removed when the quad tips were welded so pretty sure it wasn't the flapper.
