I posted a detailed review of vsw speaker upgrade on m3post audio. Using phone and can't put link but I have Dirac system. Bottom line is despite everyone saying the Dirac and logic 7 are not what needs to be addresses, the change for the better was amazing. The Dirac speakers are of amazing quality but its kevlar construction similar to aluminum in l7 produce high frequencies that are way too ear piercing at higher volumes. If you like that than maybe you don't need to change. I just think BMW did not tune and design their system around metallic drivers and thus there is huge room for improvement. Not because they are poorquality, its just softer fibreglass bNSW is a better acoustical fit.

Now the one HUGE shock is the bass increase. I think everyone underestimates what properly driven 4 inch mids can produce when done right. They don't give exact specs but especially in Dirac upgrade with new crossovers, they allow the 4 inch mid drivers to really pound mid bass which coupled with slightly lower sub mid bass 8 in hers, produces a dramatic bass boost. This however may be Dirac specific given we have 825 watts to drive the speakers in general and at lower amp power they may not be as forceful. I was about to pull trigger on new 8 in hers and another amp but that need is completely gone.

They also replace the center and rear coaxial with mid bass drivers and therefore you get 3 extra bass producing drivers coupled with the 4 doors and all this makes dramatic difference.
.given the huge thump I can now run eq almost flat and bass in the middle instead of +2 or 3. This in turn allows the 8 in hers to not distort at higher volumes as well as I actually lower the 100hz slider to minimize the lowest frequencies that the 8 in hers get bit distorted. So we now can ask less of the 8 inches and let it play more mid low without distorting since you now have 7 mid 4 inch drivers putting out really nice mid bass. The overall effect is deep hard clear mid bass punch with no distortion which does well to hide the lack of a sub. Again this is likely more noticeable in Dirac and maybe l7.

All systems will benefit in less harsh horrible highs. I spend 70 miles a day in my car. Dirac became not usable due to hurting my ears at decent volume even withtuning down high frequencies. Now with flat eq and ttreble at any volume its a rich sound that doesn't pierce ears. Full and rich vs tinny is how I would summarize the diffetence
