about to hit 48k miles...

The "service engine soon" light came on for me. Is this something that happens to all 3 series when you're approaching 50k miles? Thanks in advance!

No it doesn't just happen around 50k. If you're under warranty then bring it in, if not then have the code read and see whats going on... Any hesitation, rough idle?

Mine came on at 48k for an oil change. Take it to the dealer especially if you're still under warranty.

Is there any other indications within the computer (using the controls on the left stalk) that service is due in any way?

only thing you can do is scan for codes. Take it to autozone and see if anything comes up. Even better, if someone has a BT cable and laptop, it can tell you more information.

Instead of stressing yourself out, since you're approaching the end of warranty,
just buy a scanner and check the codes yourself then google the issue

it ended up being Code P0442 when I check at Auto Zone.

"EVAP system small leak detected. Faulty purge solenoid probable cause. 1. faulty vent solenoid, 2. loose or missing fuel cap, 3. loose or faulty purge line"

I tightened my gas cap as tight as I could and the light remains on. Not sure if it's the other two reasons or I just need to get the codes cleared.

Thanks in advance for any help!
