Are E92 Coupe SE seats better than E90 SE seats....

The D may feel quicker as it has the low down torque, but on the 0-62 sprint, its almost a second slower.

The 325i needs to be revv'ed to make progress. The 320d you have lots of torque low down.
I think the 320d is only quicker than a 325i on recovery from say 50-70 or 40-60.
Anywhere else I would expect the 325i to be the quicker car.

I own a 325i SE and they love to be revved, mines the N52 2.5 version and although it doesn't feel that quick, it is quicker than a 320d apart from merging, although it does have 184lbft from 2750rpm so it's not too bad anyway. I udnerstand what you mean about feeling fun though as I do like the feeling of boost coming on in a turbocharged car, but for me the straight six noise is what made me fall in love with the 325i. Can you stretch to a 325D/330D? I've just bought a 325D coming from a 118D (same engine as the 320D with a different tune) and the 6 cylinder is night and day in comparison. So much smoother, fantastic low down torque and a much much nicer noise. Also a more solid engine by all accounts with no timing chains to worry about. I'm getting 42mpg average from mine, which isn't much less than my 118D and well worth the drop for the improvement and refinement the 6 pot gives - if you can drive both side by side you'll feel the difference immediately.

The thing that got me the most was it asking me to change up all the time, it likes to drive at about 1150/1200rpm, and will happily go a little lower - meaning you don't get any engine noise during normal cruising. It also sounds good under load, I didn't realise diesels could make a noise that I would ever deem 'good'!

Yes i would love a 6 pot 3.0 litre diesel, i am constantly keeping my eye open for one, but not many come up for sale at the right milage and price. I have never drove one but only ever heard good reports about them.

I found that the 325's were coming up more often but then I had a limited budget and they tend to be cheaper. If you're not desperate to change then I'd honestly recommend holding out for one after I've lived with both directly after each other. The manuals are rare but I sometimes wish I had the auto. So long as it has the paddles on the wheel I don't think it would be too bad.

Mine has a few more miles on than I'd ever have considered before but at 97k drives better and smoother than my 60k 1 series of the same year. My 1 series also got the timing chain problem hence swapping it so in all didn't really last that long!

I go on holiday a week on saturday so i may leave it until i come back, there may be a 325/330d for sale nearby by then. I am not really bothered whether it is an auto or a manual, i drove an auto for the first time a few weeks ago and quite liked it, so would definitely consider buying one now, whereas in the past i wouldn't touch one just because i thought i wouldn't like it, i was wrong.

Will probably still go and have a look at the 320d this weekend though as i really like the look of it and it is close by anyway.
