Exterior window/door trim wrapping..
I'm thinking of trying to wrap my exterior window/door trims in either gloss black or carbon. My car is an 07 Alpina D3, so it has the standard 'SE' cheap exterior trims, I also want to do the mirror bracket covers too..
Has anyone tried doing this? Been looking for M Sport trims but they seem very expensive and most discolour after a while anyway. |

I've done this, just last week.
It's not easy!!!! I found it best to use a full sheet of vinyl and cut it in the shape of the curves of the trim (I didn't remove the trim from the car) Turned out 98% perfect and I'm pretty happy with it. As for the mirror caps - what a pain in the ass! To do this (3 attempts) a tip I found was to heat and stretch the vinyl before putting it on. Heat it, stretch it, hold it stretched until it cools and holds its new form. Then start wrapping, do as much as you can before heating again. This will give you a much better finish and no wrinkles on the edges. |
