BMW Performance Handbrake & Gear Shifter (Pics)

I've never much liked the cheap leather gaiters around the handbrake and the gear shifter, and recently spotted the nice Alcantara and nice quality leather items from BMW Performance. The previous owner of my car had also fitted the AC Schnitzer handbrake handle, which I was never too keen on visually (though it's a great quality part, up for sale shortly!).

The parts arrived yesterday, and fitting was a simple question of literally pulling the old ones off, and clipping the new items back into place. The ACS handbrake needed two small Torx screws removing too.

I was disappointed to find that the gear shifter did not come with the nice Alcantara and leather gaiter as shown on the product photo - I've been informed that it's a separate part which can be purchased for an outrageous amount Perhaps one for next time...

Anyway, I'll let the pics do the talking - apologies for poor quality from phone camera. Old first followed by new:

I have the Performance shifter without the gaiter as well and love the feel of it, especially the alcantara bit. Will be investing in the gaiter soon.

Not sure the silver shifter/handbrake combo works with the silver dash though..there's a bit too much errr silver

I have them for mine too, though it is a manual. I got the Alcantara fairer for the shifter and it completes the look.

I have a question though, does the Alcantara on these match the stuff on the seats? I'm looking to upgrade to alcantara msport interior but want to make sure it's the same colour. I would assume so, but best to check haha

Hehe, I guess I'm used to it because the parts they replaced were also a bright finish - I've never known anything different! But I've never been sure about this trim, I'm tempted by a carbon wrap...

I'm not very good with colours but as far as I can tell, they are the same. If anything, I'd say that the interior colour is very slightly lighter than the handbrake and shifter, but could that be because it's faded (6 year old car) and the parts are brand new? I reckon new vs. new, they're identical!
