"and those little tray tables that fold down, presumably to allow people riding in the back of an Audi A8 to do some cocaine"

Funny article.

I had a 96 saturn sl2 that blew the headgasket at 30k miles and burned oil like a refinery. Trans was slipping at 100k.

But maybe that's a bad example since the car was so old.

Had a 2005 honda civic that blew a headgasket at 100k because the head warped, or bolts stretched, or who knows. Also its trans bearings exploded and the 4th gear synchro was chewed up at the same time.

My 2006 Acura rsx type s needed a 3rd gear synchro pretty much from new.

My 2008 corvette z06 blew up the engine at just over 3k miles. Oil starvation was the cited cause although it was a crap head design by gm was what did it.

My 2011 ford f350 diesel truck needed a new TCM because it burned out.

I DID think it was a hilarious article though

I always get a kick out of Doug DeMuro's articles.

My first car was a 1975 VW Scirocco. Let me tell you I learned immensely how to work on front wheel drive from that ownership experience. Upon its destruction, I swore to never own another VW. I came close in recent years to buying a Jetta TDI but my girlfriend reminded me of the Scirocco stories. I could put a new set of points in that car in about 4 minutes. I ALWAYS had to have a set in the glove box for impending doom.

My 335D is only my 2nd German car and it took 30 yrs to buy another.

hahahaha

I can relate. I had 3 VW's (Bug, GTI and Corrado). I said the same thing about German cars, yet I drive a 335d now and have 2 more Germans in the garage.

I have read enough of VW and Audi stories to stay away. Although my sister in Europe swears by them and had many. I guess it may be the Mexican assembly for North America that messes it up for us.

All cars have their issues. I had an Acura with a skipping auto tranny. Out of warranty but replaced by Acura for free in one day. Auto box is a weak spot for Hondas.

But it's funny to read a Lexus forum and see people complain of odd squeaks or line noise in the USB phone adapter. They just have no idea. Lol.

Had all Japs before. This is my second BMW and I have no regrets.

well, have to give the guy some credit for being so up front. It is true, but that applies to all car manufactures today, no one of them is as reliable as they used to be, they all have their shares of problems. But for some reason many can fix the problems fairly quickly, but not BMW, for some reason they like to take their time, my car just hit 5 months in the shop and still not running 100%. So yes, I do agree with the author of the article.

As for me, well ...
