Dyno revisit: PE+AFE Mid Pipe
i guess cat on N51 is really restrictive, AFE mid pipe probably best mod i can "feel" so far. very nice increase from 4200rpm and up.
RED is ESS tune + PI Blue is above + PE and AFE Mid Pipe

you mean blue is all the mods? because if red is the case you lost 7 hp, anywho, nice gains and interesting how TQ stays the same

![]() yea, the A/F ratio was different now, just had it swapped few days ago, hopefully adaptation reset will take care of the low end. its a bit weird around 3800rpm, when it actually lost power.

I can vouch for the AFE mid pipe. It's a cheap mod and great power. I bought mine for $270 and was allowed to pick it up at AFE.

OP thanks for going to the trouble and sharing.
I wonder what the mid-pipes would do on their own? or sound like, for that matter... are there any before / after dynos for mid-pipe only or PE only? |

Green line is the stock map flashed right on dyno the same day, so it did not have much time to adapt back down from the blue line with ESS tune+PI. blue was dyno'd first then green. ESS told me AF ratio still with in the range, so im gonna have the adaptation reset and see how it goes.

so you should get the mid pipe first if budget not allowed, then the muffler or even muffler delete. but its gonna be VERY loud without any muffler + mid pipe.

I cant wait to get my secondaries out tuesday!!! (hopefully)
OP, now you need to to a charcoal delete and a ram air intake along with new headers and you will have a moderately "quick" 328i

hmm this is tempting But I already have secondary cats removed. I wonder if I can still get an increase in sound just from the additional mandrel bent piping. I would imagine I would get a slight increase in horsepower with the smoother piping but I wonder if I can hear the difference through my magnaflow catback. The Magnaflow is probably the most quiet catback system for the N52. I didn't hear that much difference when I did the secondary cat delete on its own.
