The Jetta TDI was stuck with torsion bars.

Now, as a former owner of a 2010 (the last model year before VW fucked everything up) Jetta TDI, the very same TDI I traded in for my beloved 335d, I can tell you it was a very tough decision. I'm not going to stand on a soapbox and state that my Jetta was anywhere near as nice as my 335d, except for mileage. But, dollar for dollar, my Jetta wins hands down. So, why did I trade? Because I love TORQUE ... I don't care much for dollars.
I had an 2010 before I got a 335d, same boat...actually had 2 of them before this, both cr140 motors...

I've driven the previous version of the Jetta TDI and liked it. That was why it was so difficult to drive the low-rent version of the current one. I would be careful with what VW has now, as even Passats of the past were somewhat problematic.
