Dci cleaning

Too many crappy threads on the topic

I bought k&n recharge kit...

Do I have to rinse the filter in a certain direction? All 360 degrees of my filters are dirty

And oil both sides right?

All reusable filters clean the same. Wash from the inside out to push out all dirt. Let it completely dry. Then oil it.

Instructions in the K&N kit too. On the outside of the box IIRC. The purpose of the oil is so dirt sticks to it so just oil the outside ok?

Use the cleaner, let it soak for a few minutes then wash it from the inside out with warm water. Let dry and LIGHTLY re-oil. Over-oiling them just blows a bunch of oil down your induction piping. As the person above said it is just so the dirt sticks; you don't need much.

I understand the given directions, but the dual cone intake sucks in air from all 360 degrees so technically air is going in from every angle. So should I oil every part of the outside? (As in every part visible while it's installed in the engine bay?)

Just oil the whole outside, all the way around.

I don't think you guys are understanding what I'm saying. There's an outside circle of filter and an inside circle of filter. Both of these filters suck air inwards to they are technically the "outside" part of the intake. So do I oil both the inner filter and the outer filter? That's what would make the most sense

The directions given on k&n are for a drop in filter where there is clearly a direction of airflow...

Shouldn't areas 1 and 2 be oiled since the airflow is inwards at both of those spots?

Cool thanks. Other instructions made it seem to only oil the outermost ring.
