VW/Audi new diesel engines

When it comes to engines, Volkswagen also has some new tricks up its sleeve. The company is putting the finishing touches on a new 2.0-liter four-cylinder TDI engine that produces a stout 236hp (the current version available to U.S. buyers makes 140hp and 236 lb-ft of torque). Winterkorn says that the new engine will be optional on the upcoming eighth generation Passat and will surely be made available on other Volkswagen- and Audi-branded vehicles. And if that wasn’t enough, a new version of the 3.0-liter V6 TDI engine is on the way. While the current 3.0-liter TDI offered to U.S. customers produces 240hp and a whopping 428 lb-ft of torque, the updated engine will be available in two states of tune. The first will produce 218hp, while the second will produce 272hp. The former version will see fuel efficiency gains of up to 13 percent compared to the existing motor, while the latter will see its torque output increased to 442 lb-ft. - See more at: http://www.dailytech.com/Volkswagen+....62hUW72Z.dpuf

Lol.

I wonder what's stopping BMW from brining the same competition back into the States.
They better hurry or they are going to lose the diesel market...

If they brought a GTD to these shores with one of the higher output diesels I would be very tempted to unload my 335d at the end of its warranty and get one.

I think this final paragraph states it all: "It seems logical that Audi could replace the 3.0-liter TDI currently used in its lineup with the new, uprated 2.0-liter TDI and offer the new, high-output 3.0-liter TDI as a performance upgrade in the U.S. market."

BMW translation: "It seems logical that BMW could replace the 3.0 liter 335d engine currently used in its lineup with the new, uprated 2.0-liter diesel and force 3-Series drivers to buy a big 5 Series if they want the 3.0 liter engine."

I had a TDI CUP edition with a cr170 turbo which makes it a GTD, slowest car ever, (0 to 60 best time was 7.2 sec best quarter mile was 16 sec) I still cant believe how bad ass and fast my BMW is, and I get only 5 miles less per gallon than my tdi...
