Tire Suggestions ASAP Please
Hello everyone! I have a 2011 BMW 335XI E92 6MT M-Sport Style 193M Rims. I within the past 5K Miles one rear tire had a horrible bubble and this morning I was greeted with the tire basically off the rim in the front.
I have Michelin Pilot Sports PS2 Runflats. Also one of my winter tires had a bubble up front. I avoid 90% of the potholes in NYC but I have no idea why my luck is so bad. I'm looking for tires that are amazing handling and little issues with bubbles. I'm guessing a meaty / beefy tire set up with bigger sidewall. I'm also getting KW V3s anyway soon so worried about rubbing with the bigger sidewall. I'm looking for advice from you guys! I was thinking about Michelin PSS but with bigger sidewalls. Looking to place an order tomorrow. Also with X-Drive I understand I need a rolling diameter under 1%. Thank you in advance. |

Go with what you have said. You will be set man. Tires will bubble if they get raped by potholes. Its a way of life haha.

I bought 18" 8.5 & 9.5" wheels.
I was debating about going 35/40 & 65/35 vs. the OEM tire size 25/40 & 55/ 35. Talked to a few tire shops and they said the difference is negligible and both fit on the wheel with no issue. I opted for 25/55 as it's OEM size I'll be able to get my tire warranty should I have a blow out or sell tires easily should I not like the set up (too much stretch), or feel there isn't enough padding for potholes. As far as xdrive goes I've run 19" with 35/35/19 and 65/30/19 and had no issues. Definitely felt the amount of rubber as I turned corners as a slow speed. Either of the above 18" sizes is still closer rolling diameter than the above 19" and well within a suitable spec. I'll repeat what I've been told - personal preference, but no big deal either way. I'm going with Continental Extreme DW but PSS were in the running, just not worth the extra $200 or 20% cost in my opinion. I had Hancook and they were decent, be interested to see what the EVO v2 they've come out with is like. Last edited by Fozzy; 05-18-2014 at 02:40 PM.. |

the bubble issue really depends on the kind of tires as well. I hit many potholes over the winter with my 235/40/18 general gmax tires on M359's. All wheels were bent and one was cracked. nothing wrong with the tires.

Max tire width for the rear wheels would be 255/35/18 on the 193s. I would just stick with 225/40/18 and 255/35/18 tires and go with the PSS.
