Quick tip brother... Hopefully you never have to go through this again, but if you do, try to flag a police officer down and have him/her to request a tow truck on your behalf.

Most departments have a tow list, where they request the next wrecker on top of the list and they have to arrive before 30 minutes, otherwise they miss their turn and the next wrecker on the list is called.

You bet the wrecker is usually there within 15-20 minutes.

Then just have your insurance reimburse you the tow bill.

I know that all of these tips I will keep handy for the next time I lose my head a bit during a roadside emergency- and to think I was not that far from the mountainside police station...

Too bad with BMW Assist this time- the last I'm had to use BMW assist the tow truck flatbed was there within 15 minutes- on a SUNDAY MORNING- and took me 45 miles all the way to My Prestige dealer in Ramsey.

One things for certain gentlemen (and lady ;-)) --- I'll be sleeping a hell of a lot better at night, once I know that I didn't bang anything the hell up on the way home.

I have an AAA membership now and have already used them once when my water pump failed in the US. Waited an hour for a tow back to Canada and then waited another hour for a tow from the border to home but sooo worth it! Totally recommend it even if you have BMW assist.

Thanks Tara! Could I have waited 2 hours? Probably. I guess it was more my frustration and the fact I was starving...who knows.
