Although I hate halfrauds, I have their professional 170 piece socket set, I have a trade card and came from £250 to £118, can get other size kits I just had to have the best. If I have been informed correctly they are made in the same factory as snap on and they also have a lifetime warranty (with the receipt)

Halfords professional all day long.

Life time warranty that they stand by no matter what. Even if youv beaten it.

Iv had snap on for years and little by little as a broke thing and snap on as usual refused to replace to to it bring outside of warranty conditions. My tool chest seems to have allot more halfords professional tools in it now. They dont do good specialist tools so they will need to be snap on but still very good for normal jobs.

Yeh the halfords pro is a good price, sometimes they have it on half price, everything right down to allen keys has a lifetime warranty, easy that way aswel if something does break theres never a halfords far away.
With snap on you need to take it back to a specialist or send it back via post and wait for a return etc

I've had my halfords pro set for nearly 10 years now. Still works a treat. The case makes it really easy to find what you need, it's also easy to check that you haven't left anything under the bonnet too.

Another vote for the Halfords pro/advanced set. Had mine a few years now and it's absolutely spot on.

Agree, plus a few other bits like a 5mm 3/8 allen key.

But agree with the others excellent kit once you build on the few bits that are missing.

This could be worth a look. Very often high quality German engineering and in this case with a 2 year guarantee. Maybe the peace of mind of a lifetime guarantee with Halfords wins out though?

Yet another vote for halfords, got my first set about 7 years ago and I've gradually swapped all my tools to there professional range. Only thing I've broken was a torx bit, it had been abit mistreated, was rusty and I didn't have a receipt but they swapped it straight away. Top marks on holding their guarantee! Not bad for a kit that gets daily use

If anyone is around Northamptonshire I can buy them with my Halfords trade card and get some discount (not sure how much it is on tools these days)
Note that if they are already on offer the trade card makes no difference

Only ever had one set - Halfords own. Bought it in, erm, about 1986, to work on my Datsun Cherry. It outlived the car by 25 years.
