Angel eye Led resistor too hot

I checked my LED angel resistor back that I had tucked away in the headlight housing to close the cover. As soon as I pulled it out it was so hot I could not touch it. I am concerned what it may end up doing to the angel eye rings and the housing in general. I like the look and have read various Install Installnstructions but I would like some definitive experienced responses whether it is safe to keep these within the headlight housing for long road trips > 5hrs..

Sorry if this has been discussed before but I did try to search..

The factory bulb gets just as hot if not hotter and they too would be impossible to touch after just a few seconds.

halogen bulbs and LEDs bulbs will both get hot, but LEDs last much longer and also feature a no voltage drop function, which is pretty awesome

Agreed that halogen bulb gets too hot to touch but the bulb has space around it. The LED resistor that gets hot will be resting touching the bracket or the edge of the tube that forms the rings in the front.

No one has had any lighting malfunctions or issues with keeping the resistor pack inside the headlight unit?

If not, i'll try it. Just didnt want it to become a 1500 dollar mistake!

The halogen bulb radiated most of its heat through the light whereas a resistor keeps most of the heat trapped inside. Do you have a IR thermometer or a way to measure the temperature of that resistor? I would want to make sure it doesnt get hot enough to melt the jacket off wiring or anything worse.

I bought these :

I understand that the technology across LEDs hasnt changed but it really is coming down to manufacturability and reliability. I love the way BMW came up with the solution of those big heat sinks built into the LED module for their 2011 onwards e92s and for the F10 and F30s.

Removed the resistors which were getting hotter than the power module from the get go.
No Codes thrown by the car so I'll try to run these for now. Hoping OSRAM comes up with a n H8 replaceable Joule LED Bulb soon
