Hi,

Got a quote from a local shop and the quote for a set of Bridgestone S001 run flats and Michelin Super Sports cost about the same.

What would you do?

I wouldn't pick run flats even if they cost less. I just don't like the ride. PSS are great

Another vote for the PSS. Winner, hands down, over runflats at any price.

Cheers!

Just throwing it out there - Pirelli P-Zero runflats. They weigh the same as non-RFTs and don't really ride like a runflat. On the track they'll hold 1.2g lateral and manage better than 0.9g braking. This was with 225/40R18 and 255/35R18 at 30 and 37psi cold, respectively. Checked with a tire marker across tread and sidewall. Run tested at MSR Cresson, TX on last weekend in April. Car dynos at about 197rwhp (DynoDynamic) and track run was the 1.7CCW. Seems like pretty good performance for a runflat to me, ymmv of course. Just my two cents...

I don't know... I think I might actually consider run flats at this time.

I've had some pretty bad luck with my rubbers lately- the only thing stopping me is they don't make a runflat in 19 inch low profile yet, and they probably never will.

If your bad luck is potholes blowing out sidewalls (had 2 within the past year myself - 1 225/40ZR18 PSS, and 1 225/45R17 Hakkapeliitta), and you go with runflats, your sidewall blowouts will be replaced by, or "enhanced" with, bent/broken rims and possible suspension damage. Especially if you go low profile. Be careful, man.

Cheers!

You know what brother, you're absolutely right!

I actually just found out today that Michelin offers a three-year flat tire changing assistance. I should definitely take advantage of it.... well now that I know, I will!

I love run flats and I really enjoy the ride. I've been having runflats on my car since she arrived. Only one time did I buy a non run flat didn't like it, took it back for a runflat again. Just my thoughts.

Just put on some michelins pilot sport AS-3 and I already like the ride better.....much smoother.....but not as a direct feel as run flats but I prefer comfort for my daily driver.
So....ditch the rft's
