I missed out on the BMW Car Club LA stint
![]() Does anyone know any more events like this coming up anywhere in or near Southern California? I signed up for a drag racing event at the California Speedway for this Friday through alternativemotoring.com, but I want some road racing stuff too ![]() Thanks in advance! ![]()

http://socal.drivenasa.com/index.php...2_articleid=19 http://www.speedventures.com/events/Default.aspx In addition, there are several autocross events too for BMWCCA, SCCA (Sports Car Club of America), and PCA (Porsche Club). There's a San Diego BMW event on Nov 17th: http://www.sdbmwcca.com/calendar.html For SCCA, here's their calendar: http://www.solo2.com/calendar.asp and for PCA, here you go: http://www.pcaocr.org/autocross2007_Test.html If you haven't tried AutoX, I *highly* recommend it. At an AutoX, you can drive 10/10ths with minimal risk to your car. At a track event, with the higher speeds, the risk of totalling your car is very real. With AutoX experience though, you can learn how to handle your car (sans DSC) and apply that to the track. ![]()

For people looking into getting a start on road courses, I strongly encourage 3-4 auto-x's first. I agree 100% with shinobi that auto-x is a great way to start learning good car control skills in a safe environment.
If you really want to get to a road course, you can also check into http://www.drivingconcepts.com They run an excellent school! While pricey, I have always found the extra cost worth it. Their class sizes are smaller, their instruction is top notch and they keep pretty tight control over safety.
