2008 335xi sedan, lack of power... options ?
Hi Guys,
I am new to this board, as I just bought 3 months back a 335xi sedan.. second hand of course. The short story is that I needed a car urgently ( I just moved to US ) , so I only had a choice of 2 vehicles within reasonable distance to me, manual sedans... One was thrashed going in limp mode, and this one was in half decent shape. It has no mods... So far, I did as much maintenance as I could : -oil change -new coil packs -new spark plugs -one injector was bad, swapped that and changed oil again ( it was running rich and the oil most likely got contaminated ) -both differentials, transfer case and gearbox oil renewed Car has no error codes though. Problem is, it feels slow... I don't hear any kind of turbo noise, or blow off valve noise as I would expect from a turbocharged engine... Is that normal ? Is there a way to log boost values with INPA or something similar to check for turbo pressure ? Now; we need to consider the other thing, that I come from daily driving an M3 before the 335xi (overseas) and my other car is a 2013 Shelby GT500 ( 662 HP car)... so my definitions of fast are a bit skewed maybe Otherwise, is anyone in Newton/Brookline area with a simlar car as mine willing to swap with me for 2 minutes, or just drive mine to see how it feels ? I am also thinking taking it for an inspection to the dealer, but they will charge me a 3 figure number for that. Many thanks for any opinions. |

Whenever I put my car back to stock, it feels like a rental car. Stock 335xi's feel pretty slow to me. I assume you don't have any sort of tune. If so, you could pull logs pretty easily and identify if you have a boost leak or timing pull.

You are correct, I have no mods what so ever.... My wife drives it for now, and she also complained it was slow, imagine that would I be able to do log boost data and timing with INPA ? |

If it does not have a leak and still feels slow, Get a JB4+Dp+DCI+Intercooler!!!

If there is someone local with a Cobb AP, they could ride with you and watch live data on the AP without marrying it to your car, and could also see if there are any stored codes.
