Main dealer vehicle inspection advice

Guys I'm just looking for some "just in case" advice please.

I bought my AUC e93 in February this year, I've done 4000 miles in the car and I'm booking it in for the vehicle inspection service which is due next month. Now I'm not expecting them to come back and say this that or the other needs replacing, but I'm just thinking how do I react if something like a wear and tear part does need replacing??

Now I'm not naive and realise that my car is used so wear and tear parts will need replacing at some stage, but seeing as I've only had the car 4 months could I push bmw to replace the parts foc or at least with some kind of goodwill discount as I'm thinking surely most things should be lasting longer than 4 months after going through BMW's famous 100+ point check

Now as I said I'm not expecting them to find anything but I'm just trying to arm myself with some advice from you guys incase they I get the dreaded phone call

I would agree and I would be extremely unhappy if I was forking out on anything but tyres after 4 months.Unlikely though as you say.

Thanks, I'm taking it back to the dealer I bought it from so if something does come up it should be easier to deal with hopefully as I purchased it from them. If it was 6+ months down the line I'd probably grin and bear any excess work needed but 4 months is a little too soon to be forking out I think.

Fingers crossed

Definately. If anything was borderline worn it would have been done at the AUC-pads/discs/tyres etc

I be amazed if BMW offer to pay for replacement tyres/discs/pads. All these are wear/tear items. When i was looking at 335s the first one I say was at a Sytner dealer. The car had barely 3mm tread on the tyres, I asked the dealers about this and if they would put new tyres on if I bought the car, their response was simply 'if its with in the legal requirement' they wouldn't pay to get it replaced...But if I wanted new tyres with the car they would happy fit them providing I paid for the tyres

What condition are consumable parts like? Do you see things needing changed?

Tyres worn or are brakes looking tired and showing up on the dash needing done soon?

I've never had my dealer say I need something changed.

4 months is a reasonable time to expect consumable parts to last. It seems many people get far less miles on a set of rear tyres. 4 months might be 1/3 of the tyre life to them.

The AUC checklist states that tyres have to be changed if under 3mm,but some dealers like to bend the rules a bit.

You could have done 4k miles round the nurburgring for all they know

If it needs anything i doubt very much it would be foc unless its an extended warranty issue

So I filled in the online form on the service website and the dealer contacted me this morning, but they insisted the vehicle inspection service was a "generic" service indicator and I'd need to have my key checked to see what I needed doing before they could book my car in. My car has a full bmw history and I said its just a vehicle inspection required to which I was told it could be any service inspection and its best for me to get my key checked.

Im half tempted to go elsewhere now as that guy never filled me with confidence
