dc inspection
getting car inspected down here... was told by 311 that its only an emissions test and they do not look at brakes/tires/lights, etc; is this correct? also if i have a dci and jb4 but have set to map 0 do I still need to run through the drive cycle procedure, or is that only for people with DPs?

oh wow I just posted about VA inspection and then saw this thread hah
Are you talking about DC emissions or inspection? Most likely emissions. I think DC requires inspection too. But to be able to get registered and renew your registration, all you need is emissions. If they are performing emissions, clear your codes (incl) shadow, and set to Map 0. They'll only scan for codes during your emissions test (unless your car is mad old and has no OBD port). They won't even pop your hood. They may look under your car for catless pipes though (seen them do this randomly) If you're getting it inspected, which is usually separate from emissions, they will test your brake lights, turn signals, tire tread, etc. Emissions is to make sure the car runs properly and inspection is to make sure your car's safety systems are up to par. |

thanks... definitely has obd - i'm pretty sure all 3's since the 95 e36 have obdII...
my concern was related to switching to map 0 and not driving the 100 or so miles that some have said is necessary to pass an emissions test when they are connecting to your obd and not pulling actual readings off your exhaust |
