2008 328i order delay
I placed my order for a 2008 328i Sedan on 9/3/07 from Sonnen BMW in San Rafael and the sales manager told me it would be about 6 week wait. I waited and waited now its been 5 weeks so today i decided to call my SA to see the status. He told me the car is in Germany waiting to get in the vessel in Germany to be transported. He said that the vessel might wait until the cars fill up before it takes off. Estimated wait will be another 24 days-1 month. I am really disappointed. Anyone else experienced these kind of delays?

Ordered mine on 9/18 finished production on the 25th and was loaded and shipped off on 10/1. Sounds like your sales guy has no pull. Get a new one!

I ordered mine Sept 22 and per last update from my sales guy he said that it should be here next week. 6 weeks is what he originally told me and it looks like it's going to get here. I"m very excited to get it!
BTW, you can sign up on BMWUSA's owners cirle to track the progress of your bimmer. Ask for your Production Number to get you started with the Owners circle registration. Check the 'New Car Ordering + Tracking Information Forum' section on this site too. Good luck. |

not sure about that...but one drawback to it is that it's usually a bit behind. salesperson is always the best source of info!

Hey Jimboeze, I also ordered from Sonnen in SR and it took forever. Negotiated a deal on May 18 w/deposit and just took delivery Oct 18th.
I heard it all and the first question for you is: "Do you have a production number." If you do call the 800 number in the ordering thread and find out the status of your car. Forget the Owners Circle as it is never updated. If the car is on the boat ask which boat and shipping line. Once on the boat it takes 6 weeks- it has to sometimes wait for a slot in the Panama Canal. I would be assertive w/ the SA and get the real facts. Good luck! |
