Here's what I did this weekend - trim wrap

I finally got around to starting my trim wrapping project. Got the console done, but can't install it until my new sunglasses tray comes in (replaces the ashtray). Also started my door panel project. I purchased replacement door pulls in Schwarz (~$25 each at getbmwparts). Installed those and wrapped the trim. Now that I figured out how to replace door panel bits, I'm going to replace the leather armrest with Schwarz also. Also wrapped my Bimmian Shifter in Carbon Fiber. Wait - woah! Where'd that stupid park button go?

I'm going to post up a full DIY when I get it all done.

Damn, that is looking awesome and it's definitely something I want to do on my car. I want to go with piano black vinyl though.

Do you have a link for the sunglasses tray?

Thanks man. I'm kinda liking it. The sunglasses tray will be a potentially different part depending on the car. I'd just go to REALOEM and look up your car by VIN, find the part#, and order it from getbmwparts - that's what I did.

I'll include the tray swap in my DIY,

Looking great man. Giving my ideas now as my trim and handles are all showing signs of wear.

Now I thought the sunglasses holder from BMW replaces the handle bars ( or whatever they are called) in the roof?

That's an aftermarket version. The OEM version was an option for the ashtray. Check it out here... http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7049

I also noticed my seat-back storage nets were looking a little sad. They were stretched out, had a couple of stains, and offered no contrast with the surroundings. So I pulled the seat-back, popped the netting frame off, removed the netting and dyed it black. Tightened the netting back up when I reinstalled. Came out pretty good. It's nylon mesh so it doesn't dye particularly well. I was hoping for something with a deeper black. But it's better than it was!

Note - don't try to remove the net frame without taking the seat back off! The net frame (like many door panel components) is heat-riveted on and has to be basically cut off and reattached with screws. I'll post a DIY on this also when I finish the project this week.

FYI - the entire seat-back panel (except for the net frame) is leather-covered. I'd thought all along it was sprayed with that rubberized interior coating (like the dash). I've been cleaning it wrong all this time! Also, the entire seat-back panel is around $100 at Getbmwparts, in any color you want

Looks good! I've been thinking about wrapping my trim. I'm not too fond of the wood look.
