But now factor in the fact that we have a twin turbo setup...a lot of high mileage guys are having trouble (see user: bcube) that changes the probabilities. |

For the folks with the N52/NA engines they should be in a better position when not getting the extended warranty but for the N54/55 engines they seem to be more susceptible to problems.

It depends on the history of your car. I have had some parts that were covered under manufactures warranty which got me thinking into getting this warranty.
This warranty company is better than buy those extended coverages you get from online sources. This is more geared towards corporate businesses and that they deal with a lot of dealerships from all brands. There are some parts that are not covered with this warranty and I am aware of it. However, they cover a lot more than the other warranty brands. |

Hi DESI4Life10, could you please tell me where you purchased your Extended Warranty last fall. I noticed you live in Burlington and I am in Oakville. Not sure if you went to Budds in Oakville or Hamilton. Budds Oakville quoted me quite a bit higher than you paid. Thanks.

I have now found myself in the position of having let the original 4-year warranty lapse. Originally, given my low mileage (30K), I was told I could relatively cheaply extend the warranty within the same 80K coverage. However, as things have been busy, the original 4-year warranty has expired and I am now told I cannot 'extend' the original warranty but have to purchase separate extended warranty (if I want) at a different (i.e. higher) cost. I don't know what the costs are yet, but wonder if someone has come across this situation before? My original 4-year warranty only lapsed a couple of weeks ago....many thanks for any help/advice!

Yea but that fee is waived if you go to the dealer that you bought the coverage from (at least for me).

I got a quote for my 2008 335xi sedan yesterday from BMW Toronto... Not bad at all, I am 2.5 years into the car and about 77,000 km already !.. Gonna add another 80,000 km and have an option to spread out my payments over a longer term interest free...

Just keeping this thread alive. Curious what the options are for extended warranty - I am kind of thinking about the 2013-2014 M3, so maybe I'll keep my 335 through that time - would be interesting to see what the warranty options are and how people are doing with them.
Anybody actually filed a claim under one of these warranties?

Long time lurker, but just went through an extended warranty repair so I'll share my experiences:
Car was purchased in 2010 as a CPO. Factory 4 yr warranty expired last summer, and it's been on the 2 year extended warranty since then. (EDIT: The car came with the balance of the 4 yr warranty, plus the 2 year extended warranty.) I "saved up" a bunch of seemingly small issues and finally brought it in last month. Muffler rattle, glove box, some trim issues. The muffler rattle turned out to be a problem with the turbo waste gates, and after approval from PuMA, they REPLACED both turbos. That was totally unexpected. It still rattles, but I'd say it's reduced by 80%. I'll keep monitoring since I can't deal with my car being gone for another week. The glove box and trim issues are "not covered" by the extended warranty. They did fix a minor trim issue since it was a 2 minute fix (replaced a clip). They also fixed my passenger folding mirror motor. I was charged the $50 deductible, although from this thread it seems it would have been waived had I gone to the dealership where I purchased the car...?? I didnt have to deal with any third parties. They called me and said what was wrong, then fixed it, and just charged me $50 + tax when I picked up the car. No hassles. Biggest issue was that I didn't have the car for just over a week. |

I haven't looked into it yet, but I know that the Alberta Motor Ass'n (AMA) offers an XW in a variety of packages. Might be worth contacting your local association to see if they do the same (or check their websites). Seemed reasonable in the little stuff I read.

I will let you guys know what they tell me when they call. I have a 328i, so perhaps I don't need it as much since I don't have turbos. But still looking into it. I was told the full BMW warranty finished in August, but I have a manufactures warranty until 2013 which would cover any major issues. Not exactly sure what they meant, but I am hoping to get clarification when they give me a call. |

I have a 07 335i with 102 000 km, is it still possible to get an extended warranty? Who should I contact about getting the best rate possible and best coverage?
