[SOLVED] What are the Torque spec for Front Control Arm ??
Time has come to change my front lower control arms and ball joints on my '10 335xi. I have the parts but could not find anywhere the torque spec for :
- the 2 screws holding the ball joint to the spindle [ #13 in the diagram] -- > 60Nm - the nut holding the control arm to the ball joint [ #14 ] --> 80 Nm - the screw/nut in the control arm bushing [#10 ] -> 68 Nm + 90deg Thanks for the help Last edited by grandmos; 06-13-2014 at 10:25 PM.. I use http://workshop-manuals.com/bmw/ for finding torques. It's a little hard to navigate, but find the Repair instruction and then cross reference to the Torques section (along with the torque code).

Great website, thanks for sharing the link.
For the tightening torque of the screw/nut in the control arm bushing [#10 ], they say : Jointing torque : 68Nm Torque angle : 90deg What does that mean ? I torque first to 68Nm then rotate the wrench of 90 deg ? |

Yep. That usually means it's a stretch bolt so it shouldn't be reused. I'll admit that I'm not the greatest at remembering to buy a new bolt for those every time.
