DO NOT TRY TO START THE CAR LIKE THIS - IT WILL GO WRONG!

The see what the current draw is with the car locked unlocked / after 10 minutes / 20 minutes and 30 minutes.

Do this, and post back with the results.

btw if you don't have a mulitmeter to measure the current, they can be had for around 10 quid on ebay ( probably less). You want one capable of measuring upto 5 amps or so.

If you have no idea what a mulimeter is, do some googling - it quite straight forward and if you get stuck, come back here.

I would also not close the trunk while the negative terminal is disconnected.

Didn't mean to piss you Afsar. Have you tried a reconditioning batter charge, like with a CTEK charger. They work great.

No worries mate, I will resume work on this from tomorrow. Fixing is another thing but it is more interesting to findout root cause before I make a fix.

Will keep this thread updated.

Actually change in plan. I have bought an X5 xDrive 40d so I will get rid of the current car. I will take off all the audio equipment which will calm down the battery.

Quick update : old battery in the end completely died, replacement battery in and no problem so far despite driving very short distances.
