Unhappy Continuously getting limp modes

Hey guys,

Recently my car has been getting a "3100 low boost mode engaged -- CEL displayed" code and nothing else. It started about 1 week ago and has become so frequent that now it's happening every time I drive. I'm on map 5 ~E30 with a brand new hpfp and freshly cleaned valves, new plugs and coils.

It happens without a warning, no hesitation or shaking, just a smooth transition into limp mode. Usually around 5-10 sec after WOT, cruising at normal speeds.

A/f ratio set to 0 on all maps. OFL has been tried between 76-88. FUD at 2.

Any idea into this is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Post this up in the support section on the "other" forum. You should get some help there.

I got 30FF when I had a boost leak. You're not getting that one, but by the decription you posted sounds like the same scenario I had with a boost leak.

Mine turned out to be really simple to solve. I literally just tightened up all the clamps that I could reach on the charge air tract. Meaning in and out of the inter-cooler, the meth elbow, etc. I was surprised how much I could tighten them, when I know they were tight before. As soon as I did that the codes and limp modes went away. It can be much more complicated than that to find a boost leak, but start there. Look at anything and everything top and bottom that uses vacuum hoses or on the charge-air tract.

2F6C Exhaust fumeflap, input signal
2E8E intelligent battery sensor, communication
2A87 Outlet-Vanos variable cam control test, mechanics
3100 low boost mode engaged --CEL displayed

I got similar codes and limp mode (++++) when i went FBO and JB4. I went in and found a loose wire on my JB4 and tightened it. Check your power cable especially which connects in the green box. Especially for the 3100 code it's a tune related code. Go back and step by step reinstall your jb4 see if that works it sounds like the JB4 is not communicating

3100 is NOT tune related. 3100 simply means that the car has gone into limp mode. Every time limp mode is enabled, the 3100 code will show up. The codes he posted have nothing to do with the tune itself.

Relax buddy!!!! I was just sharing what I experienced. Once my jb4 was fully
Functional my car ran great! It was simply a suggestion based upon my similar codes and experience

*Update*

Ran to BMW down the street and picked up an exhaust solenoid for $145. Easiest DIY ever. Installed it in 10 minutes and its pulling strong again, no more headaches.

Whats the disadvantage of running with a fresh solenoid with an older one that still works well?

A solenoid either works or doesn't usually.

Not sure, the code said exhaust solenoid which is the same as the other solenoid so I just replaced it by hand and it's still running strong.
