Cobb horror story...not really but seriously
Bought a used Cobb from forum member Rob Daman. All is well and it got here in a timely manner. Trying to install the AP told me I needed to update my DME. No big deal right? So I go to the dealer and tell them my car's been sputtering and running weird on starts asked for the DME upgrade. No dice as they have never had to do an update on an n55 for that reason. They in fact told me the Sunnoco gas I've been putting in my car came up as 'low fuel quality' and I should look into that. Called Cobb and they said yeah as long as you are getting that message just have the dealer update to the latest version and you're good.
Ended up coming out of pocket $260 for the update because who want's a stock 335 right? I figure I'm good money and I'll just wait a day to upgrade and try to burn out this shitty gas but I couldn't so I go to do the install and guess what ROM is unsupported. Of course I called Cobb and they're closed today. Adding insult to injury it turns out I actually needed the DME update. I had the passenger airbag light flickering that got resolved after the update. I haven't changed anything else and it stopped after the update. I saw someone else on the forum mention the same issue. LIVID right now. UPDATE: So it looks like I just have a newer ROM than is currently supported. Sending them my ROM information. Fingers crossed I'm still in this thing. I'm still out the $$ for the update though womp womp Last edited by CoolHandLuke; 03-29-2014 at 03:15 PM.. |

Thanks guys. Late 2010 I forgot exactly. In any event cooler heads have prevailed and I believe I just have a newer rom than is supported. I have followed the procedure to download my ROM information will be sending it to COBB. I bought my Cobb used I hope thats not a big deal I noticed they ask for the S/N of the COBB

Thanks for the interest guys all is well. Cobb provided great customer service and after I sent them my ROM data over the weekend first thing this morning the reached out to me with an update. I installed it and I never thought a stage 1 tune could feel so good. well worth the wait.
