Tracking without oil cooler
Has anyone tracked their car without an oil cooler but sprayed meth? Did you limp?
Last time I tracked I hit limp mode but I didn't have meth at the time. I'm curious because I want to go lapping but don't want to waste my time if I'm going to limp after 4-5 laps. |

Your going to limp after 3 laps. Personal experience, as you should know everyday driving and pulls in the street the car is fine. But tracking 3 laps max!

I'm in the same boat as the OP, no oil cooler. However, after removing the engine belly pan, half the coolant/water in the radiator and refilling with distilled water and "water wetter", I found out that the oil gauge temps are approximately 10F cooler. I'll let you know how it runs (limps?) after I attend Gingerman's test and tune night in July.

You can't track reliably without a good oil cooler. Meth won't solve all your cooling issues and may turn out to be a big mistake.

You are probably right here. But, even with an oil cooler these motors need to diasapate an enormous amount of heat. So one relatively small oil cooler is a band aid approach to making this track ready...An aftermarket radiator (Mishomoto), separate trans cooler (for my automatic equipped car) and of course an aftermarket oil cooler would be the way to go if I was serious about tracking my car. Just not sure I want to invest in cooling down my "heat pump" for the 5 or 6 times I'd track it in a summer.

What is meth suppose to do for oil temps? I don't see a direct relation from cooler charge and combustion temps making for cooler oil temps. If anything is expect the added power might drive temps up a lil quicker. Speculation but I just don't see meth doing anything good to oil temps
