The guy who coded my car claimed it's embedded within the TCU. That you're just flashing the firmware that Alpina wrote into the bootloader instead of BMW's. It took him 5 min to do that and a number of other coding changes, so it seems reasonable to me.

Hey dark.. I've had the flash on my car for like 6 months.. I'll be honest I really like it in general but some days I am not a fan. I'm basically fbo and I've noticed that D mode is really granny mode! if your fan is ok with that than go for it.. in sport and manual the shifts are quicker you just tell when your tack is moving a lot quicker after a shift that its doing its job
