Advise on checking for CBU
Okay folks. I did a lot of reading and searching but have not found a comprehensive post or how to.
Another member and I will be installing catch cans shortly and since we were doing some wrenching we figured we'd try to check how much CBU we have. Any advise on how to go about doing this. I am working on getting a hold of a scope and might just buy one for this exercise. Thanks in advance |

TDI and I both tried scoping the intake without removing it. I would get about 4" in with snake and then couldn't see anything. The pudding stuff was caked over lense since it scraping wall of intake tube. I did eventually look down the main intake "log" that runs parallel to engine. It was covered pretty well with about 1/8" thick cbu. I found it impossible to look at ports of head. Only real way is to remove intake and look in ports.

interesting. I guess as long as ball head is small enough. The other thing would be to push up the correct path as there are 2 paths for each cylinder. One is swirl flap path and other is the main path. I'm unsure if swirl flap is closed or open when engine is off. It may just be easier to remove the manifold and clean it and be done.
