These Kicker SSMB8's are a great speaker set for our under-seat mid-bass speaker boxes. I also have a set of spacers for sale in another thread for mounting the speakers to the box.

I only ran a Rockford Fosgate PBR300.2 amp to power them (Only 75w@4ohms). The sound was good, but far from their real potential. I upgraded to a set of Phoenix Gold 9 Elite series for my next stereo overhaul.

IMO, these speakers seriously outperform Earthquake SWS-8, making them seem like what the OEM speakers sound like.

Max power 350W
RMS output power 40-175W
Response bandwidth 30 - 500 Hz
Input impedance 4 Ohm

I can vouch for the quality of bass and midbass these things provide. I have been using them for a couple of years now ever since I read that Technic recommended them. I know people say they can't play sub bass but that has not been my experience. Feeding these 150w each from my jl hd600 amp there is no need for a sub in the trunk, especially with the e90 trunk's being so tight. And they extend up the range to meet even the weakest 4" components. Anyway just thought I'd share my experience with them for anyone considering picking these up. Here is some pink noise playing in my car with ssmb8 underseats.

Thank you for that input. Since I was only feeding half the power to mine, I didn't quite feel the bass as low as you did. I felt more power would had done the trick, but the Phoenix Gold speakers looked like a fun challenge. With a quality speaker like these are and the right amount of power, you will be amazed with what comes out from beneath your seat. They're not silent at all, but they could be deadly to your hearing.
