VVT PCV valves

Was looking at PCV upgrades, but notice that VVT photoshoped the RB PCV pictures to remove the RB watermark, and then selling them on their own website. Not sure what's going on exactly, but sure seems a little sketchy if you ask me. Anyone noticed that or bought those PCV valves from them recently? Perhaps the guy from VVT could clarify...

RB: http://www.rbturbo.com/products/accessories/rbpcv
VVT: http://performance.vargasturbo.com/bmw-products/n54/

Notice how VVT used the exact same picture...

That's fkn crazy, it's bad enough to copy someone's design but to then use their image to promote their product is plain robbery imo.

If they stoop that low, that's one co I will steer clear of...

Does it say it's a VVT PCV valve???? How do you know they didn't purchase these valves wholesale from Rob and are selling it.

Such a stupid thread

Just merely pointing out what I have observed, since it is never a good business practice to photoshop product images of others posting them without any disclaimers. It would be great if someone can clarify where they sourced these PCVs.

However, I have to wonder why VVT feels the need to crop and photoshop the watermarks out? Nothing wrong with being a reseller if these are indeed RB PCV valves.

I personally feel that Tony is shafy as f*ck. Especially given that he does preorders on all his products and then over a year later people still haven't gotten their sh*t. However, he could have bought them off rob for resale without the rb name and that's why he cropped the rb watermark.

I'm with you though. Some clarification would be nice to clear the air.

Clarity would be nice but let's not rush into judgement too fast, i'm sure we all saw the shenanigans in the ZNS single kit over in Stick's neck of the woods.

I'd just guess that Tony bought a bunch from Rob and is now re-selling them, in which case no harm no foul, just something that needs a bit of clarity.

Contacted Rob directly to see if he can offer some reliable information on this. Will keep this updated.

There is nothing wrong with reselling these, since VVT personally claimed PCV needs to be upgraded for their hybrid turbos in the thread about their hybrid stage 2 turbo from a while ago, where Tony claimed that oil supply issue was the cause the large number of turbo failures reported by some of the early buyers.

FYI, Rob replied back.

VVT purchased 20 PCVs back in April 2013. It is more than likely that these are just copied version of the RB valves.

That's just the nature of the business in my opinion. Things get copied over time if there is money to be made, there is nothing wrong with it legally speaking unless RB has a patent on the design. But the way this is presented on their website... sigh... doesn't say much about their business practice.

I believe Rob's are an off the shelf item that he tested and made sure they worked well with the oem pcv system on the 335, so it's plausible that VTT could buy them as well.

I do think its a case of what Pat wrote in his second paragraph.

Nothing wrong with that either. But again you have to consider that VVT are selling $2000-8000 turbo upgrade kits, not exactly your average knockoff vendors you find on Ebay.

At least take the effort to come up with your own product image at the very least.

FYI, pictures of the installation kits are directly copied from ECS tuning...

I think one of the biggest things aftermarket companies struggle with is just basic customer focus items, ie having nice pictures, proprietary information rather than canned bullet points about why product X is so great, etc etc.

I guess that's just the way it is but you'd think in a relatively high end market we could do better than copying other folks pictures. If we can't get someone to snap 2 or 3 pictures with a DSLR for a product they're selling, what on earth do the JDM and USDM guys get pictures taken with? Are their products advertised via smoke signal or something? Oh well.

Rabid Patriots fan. I work in the industry as well - absolutely NOT a professional athlete if that's what you all are wondering.

Born in CT, moved to MD when I was a wee lad but my Dad did not allow Redskins games to be broadcast in our house - he was serious about it. Pats on the radio, or no dice. We didn't watch other football teams until it was well established that I was on the "good" side. Lol.

So I learned early

I absolutely love football though, the game is my passion. Sadly i'm thoroughly average athletically so there was no way in hell I could play it at a high level. Enter back of house/scouting! I love every minute of it.

Your Dad sounds like a good guy, I respect his view of not letting you (and your siblings) become bandwagon sports fans. I grew up in Northern California and have been a life long Raiders fan (let the jokes ensue) and could have changed now that I have been on the East Coast (since 85) and that the Raiders suck ,but I won't.

I love football as well, but hey, not all of us can play professional sports (see John Gruden), but being able to work in the industry is still a very cool thing. No having to caveat that.
